Welcome to Create Content that Sells
This is your go-to newsletter where I showcase the systems and strategies I use to monetize a 1-person online business through organic content on LinkedIn.
Read time: 3 minutes
Things we're going to cover:
Why YouTube is now a part of my weekly content
How that fits into my content on LinkedIn
And how that brings in organic traffic
You'll get access to the YouTube video at the end of this newsletter post.
Why YouTube is now a part of my weekly content
I produced a lot of content in the past but I was never intentional about how I did it and what results I wanted from each piece of content, except the usual, “I want clients”.
I restructured everything. The first thing I do at the end of each week is schedule my LinkedIn content which is about 5-6 posts a week. Sunday evening that's what I'm doing.
Then on Monday, later in the morning - I record a long-form video which addresses the topic of the week which will also be covered in the LinkedIn content for the week. This week was about the changes in LinkedIn's policy
I don't spend much time on the video. I just create a thumbnail on Adobe or Canva and just upload the video as is. I'm not a video editor and I don't know how to create cinematics and stop-scroll hooks for videos (so I won't start something I won't keep up in the following week)
I upload the video the same hour.
The goal is to nurture of course. Getting the audience ready for the week's content, especially if it's a complex strategy I want to teach.
I clip up the video and use opusclip.com to create short-form videos which are good for YouTube shorts, Instagram reels and Tiktok.
Sometimes if I'm not happy with the quality of what I'm saying, I won't upload the clips and waste people's time.
Let that be some friendly advice: if it's not of quality, don't bother.
How that fits into my content on LinkedIn
I post about 5 times a week on LinkedIn.
This is what my weekly content calendar looks like:
Monday (Long-form educational post)
Tuesday (Short-form educational post)
Wednesday (Promote Newsletter)
Thursday (Promote service, testimonial or client results)
Sunday (Share a personal story about my life)
The schedule can change here and there. The week can bring up things which stop me from posting on other platforms.
The content I share on Monday and Tuesday, are both educational posts but if the topics are too complicated or complex, I use the short-form clips from the video I created at the start of the week.
I can also promote the YouTube video via this newsletter (which currently has 51 active readers)
I'm not a fan of writing newsletters as emails. I don't read my own emails unless if it's something important. So I don't think anyone would bother too as well.
Every Thursday, I write a newsletter but this one is coming out late because I was dealing with some family responsibilities.
So in recap, the goal of these newsletter(s) is to show the following:
Promote the YouTube content to in-house subscribers.
Teach something new (and share new templates).
A simple upsell to a free/paid product or service of mine.
This content system isn't that complicated.
And how that brings in organic traffic
This last step is simple. To send your new audience to one place.
For example, I send everyone who's read a bit of my content, viewed my videos or listened to my podcast on Spotify to my LinkedIn profile. Where I can either pitch my services, update you on our upcoming community platform or share free templates.
You don't have to spend money to start a community, you could send your audience to:
A landing page to grab your free 5-day email course
A landing page to your newsletter or waiting list
A Notion doc, template, etc
I prefer a community platform where you can just post a bunch of free templates, guides, links and even allow members to network and support one another on LinkedIn.
Next steps
I'm planning on starting a community platform where we can get together and share ideas, network and support one another (instead of just reading this and calling it a day)
Let me know in the comments if you'd be open to joining us.
I will be looking at platforms over the weekend (cause I don't have a social life)
See you in the next one ✌️
