Welcome to Create Content that Sells
This is your go-to newsletter where I showcase the systems and strategies I use to monetize a 1-person online business through organic content on LinkedIn.
Read time: 3 minutes
Most founders, life coaches and even business leaders fall into the same trap on LinkedIn: they write their content like a business, not like a person.
Which kills any chance of building a solid audience, creating content people actually enjoy and furthermore, making money from your content.
Their content is:
100% tactics and strategies
(How to) and (what to do) content
The occasional life update
Nothing about this content screams personality, uniqueness, inventiveness and experience. Which is a shame because that's a huge opportunity missed.
An opportunity which could have lead to a new client, a new follower, a new subscriber and even better (a supporter)
Because:
People don’t buy from strategies, they buy from people they like.
So, where is the content about:
Your life
Your journey
Your learnings
What you've learnt from experience
There is so much potential in content like this. The rise of personal brands in the next 5-10 years will surge and not only force you to start sharing personalized content, but to do it quickly because of the competition that's out there.
So, where should you start and how?
Step 1: Make People Feel Like They’re Part of Your Journey
People connect with stories, not just how-to content
Stop treating LinkedIn like a textbook instead of a community
Share real experiences like wins, struggles, and behind-the-scenes moments.
Step 2: Make People See Themselves in Your Content
If the audience can’t relate, don't expect them too engage.
Don't talk (only) about your expertise without tying it back to their problems.
Write from their perspective - what they’re feeling, struggling with, and looking to solve.
Step 3: Stop Posting the Same Generic “5 Tips” Content
The LinkedIn feed is flooded with advice-based posts.
Stop thinking value = more tips when, in reality, value = insight + connection.
Challenge industry norms, share unique perspectives, and tell stories that make a point.
Step 4: Sell Just as Hard, But With a Personal Touch
Selling is NEVER the problem - how we sell is.
Stop separating “value” posts from “sales” posts, instead blend the two.
Weave personal stories and unique insights into your sales content to make it resonate.
This builds communities way faster and makes selling easier
Step 5: Move Conversations Into DMs with Authenticity
Don't just post good content. Share it with a few people in your DMs. You don’t know the conversations it could open up.
Use comments as a way to enter the DMs with context
Although this is 100% strategy, your focus should be on building relationships first.
Final Thoughts:
If the content you're sharing is only about “what to do” and not “who you are”, you’re making yourself replaceable!
People buy from people - so let them see the real you.
Start sharing your journey. Make your audience feel apart of something. People love that.
My Homework for you!
Create 1 post a week, where you share a simple behind-the-scenes, a simple win during the week (in-relation to your business)
Ask for opinions and thoughts.
Alright that's it from me this week!
Thank you,
